Babygirl is a stylish, well directed psychosexual thriller starring Nicole Kidman

Written and directed by Halina Reijn, this chic psychosexual thriller explores Nicole Kidman’s power and passion as she has a dangerous sexual relationship with Harris Dickinson, a 28-year-old British actor who plays an office intern.

Considering the sexual nature of the Stanley Kubrick directed, Eyes Wide Shut, Nicole Kidman’s statement that this is the most “exposing” performance she had ever given, is a bold one.

Nicole Kidman plays Romy, a prosperous businesswoman who runs a robotics company that uses robots to replace warehouse employees. She seems to have the same level of success at home as she does at work. Her husband (Antonio Banderas) appears to satisfy her demanding sexual needs and a family life is completed by a couple of teenage daughters.

One morning while commuting to work, Romy spots a young man calming a dangerous dog. The young man is Samuel (Dickinson), one of a new class of interns from the company who are respectfully welcomed into Romy’s opulent office. She immediately notices his good looks and swagger, and she eventually can’t help but be attracted to him.

However, Babygirl is more than just the tale of a cross-generational, illegal office affair. It is about workplace politics and power, which is far more fascinating. Samuel believes that Romy has a kinky desire to be the one to obey commands, even though it is her job to tell people what to do.

With outstanding support from Antonio Banderas, Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson deliver captivating and seductive performances, making Babygirl well worth a watch.
